| In
1932 Domenico Farina founds Costruzioni Meccaniche Domenico
Farina, a workshop for the manufacturing of blanking dies for steel
plate. At that moment the company features a certain handicraft-like character,
but it is developing rapidly. In fact, presses become soon necessary to
test dies: that is how the first Farina presses were born, originally
manufactured for steel plate forging only. In the seventies the manufacturing
of presses focused on hot forging, requiring more complex machinery and
special technologies as compared with blanking presses. |
Since then, Farina Presse has exclusively devoted themselves to the manufacturing of presses for the hot forging of steel, and enriched their range by manufacturing all the machines needed to complete and automate the hot forging process. Mechanical hands which move pieces in automatic run give evidence thereof. Today we at Farina Presse design, customize and manufacture complete lines for the hot forging of steel, which are marketed either as complete lines or as single components. Another business area of ours is "retrofitting", i.e. reconditioning of existing presses. |

1952
The first machine for hot working (drop hammer) is produced. 1953 A series of presses having two uprights and a pneumatic blanking tool are produced. 1956 At the Milan Trade Fair the first devices for safety at work are pre-sented, absolutely new in Italy: the first safety system with multiple ray barrier on a press having two uprights is introduced. On the same occasion the first machine equipped with electro-pneumatic clutch is shown. |

1966 The productive facilities are transferred to a new larger
site at Suello, in order to be able to meet the continuous request for
big size presses required for the making of motor car bodies. 1967 The first 500-t-press for the hot "upsetting" of steel is produced. This press is specifically designed for a customer to meet his particular production needs; for the Domenico Farina Company it means "a newworld to be explored". |
As a matter of fact, the first true press for the hot forging of steel,
having 630tons, is produced in the following year. This press is put to work immediately by a local forger. In consideration of the excellent results of this investment more forgers then ask for new machines. |

1980 The evolution of the production range which includes four
machine types, from 400t up to 1,600t, continues. 1982 The first 2,500-t-press is designed and produced. 1984 Introduction of PLC-press-control for all machine functions. This is an important date because it marks the beginning of automation processes in forging. |
1987 Engineering and production of a special transfer press for semi-hot forging at 800°C. Together with the engineering and production of new machines, the retrofitting activity of dismissed plants is developed; these machines are reconditioned and sold covered by full warranty. At the end of this de-cade, the demand coming from abroad, especially Germany, increases remarkably. |

In these years, the company lives the greatest development specializing
not only in the production of presses, but also in that of each single
component of a hot forging line. Mechanical hands with 2 or 3 axes and capacity up to 500 kgs come into life. A series of hot cutting lines for the trimming of bars from 100 to 250 mm are designed and built. |
In 1995 the company changes into Farina Presse S.p.A.
In the second half of that decade a new series of "flexible" transfer presses is produced; they assure the customer the use of the same machine for different production runs, i.e. for automatic or manual run. 1999 Design and production of transfer press GAS 2000. 2000 Design and production of transfer press GAS 3500. |

1972 The making of big size machines for the cold working of steel
plate goes on; these machines are more and more refined and increase their
production output; this goes together with continuous development and
research for more powerful and reliable hot forging presses. 1972 the first 1000-t-press is presented at the BIMU fair. |
1977 The company becomes a corporation and from then on all company resources are assigned exclusively to this "niche" area, i.e. hot forging.Domenico Farina & C. S.p.A. become the sole producer of machines designed exclusively for this field. |
